Everyone deserves to feel safe and supported as an athlete and a person. Safety is one of our most basic human needs. What sets Strive & Uplift apart from other gym spaces and programming is our commitment to create and maintain a safe and supportive space for our athletes. We do this by:
- Using inclusive and non-gendered language in our classes and programming, and providing modifications for every body & ability
- Constantly asking for feedback and listening to concerns from our members
- Actively engaging in dialogue with people who are working with oppressed populations to learn more about how to better embrace and amplify those voices
- Addressing safety issues, both physical and emotional, that crop up in our work and space in a transparent and thoughtful way across multiple platforms
- Highlighting marginalized people’s athletic and human efforts and successes in and out of the gym, whether or not they’re connected to us or our programming
- Using, revising and updating our “Whole Athlete” protocol – education and engagement around topics of mental health, nutrition, recovery, and self-care
- Doing the hard work on ourselves as coaches and humans, and supporting each other in that work

At Strive & Uplift, we welcome everything that makes you the person who you are and are ready to support your health and fitness through our programs and with this space.
We believe that education is empowering, and provide consistent coach support to all our members so you know you’re doing the right thing for your body.
We believe in striving to be physically fit
What that looks like for you is dependent on your goals! That’s why we offer a wide variety of class options, from lifting to core-focused, and the choice to work out independently, do personal training or health coaching with our coaches, or come in with your team to train together. Whatever you’re hoping to achieve, we are here for you!
We believe in uplifting each other
When you come into our space to work out or attend an event, we hope you feel a positive connection with those around you. When a Strive & Uplift coach works with your team or community group in any environment, we hope to help you feel comfortable enough to listen to others’ experiences and support their growth as well as your own.
While working out, uplifting each other means giving someone a spot, sharing equipment and space, or giving encouraging words and high fives.
Uplifting means speaking respectfully and being welcoming to people of all backgrounds. This also means supporting those with limited resources and lowering barriers to accessing services.
The communities people belong to are a part of what supports the health of the whole person. As such, we welcome community meetings and other events for the groups you’re engaged in!
Each of our coaches is a part of this community because they are passionate about its mission and vision: providing high-quality movement education and sport performance guidance in a safe and supportive environment.
We bring different expertise and life experience to this initiative and relish all the opportunities we have to learn from each other, our partnering health professionals, and our clients! We have a growth mindset as a team, always striving to increase our skillsets while uplifting each other through supportive communication and caring in the process. We truly believe in living the mission and vision of this gym through our actions, and that includes amongst ourselves!

The Women’s Strength Coalition is an international network of likeminded movement professionals, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts using our collective strength to impact the world in a meaningful way.
We believe all people deserve access to a movement practice that is safe and affirming. We believe exercise is a celebration of what our bodies can do, not a punishment for what we ate. We believe in taking up space.
Strive & Uplift is proud to be an affiliate gym of the Women’s Strength Coalition, whose values of Inclusivity, Access, Education, Community, Collaboration, and Support align deeply with our own.
We believe that people in all bodies deserve access to quality movement education – we’re thrilled to have our business be listed in the ASDAH Health at Every Size Expert database! The HAES principles are weight inclusivity, health enhancement, respectful care, eating for well-being, and life-enhancing movement.
In The Building
Muaythai Iyarin is run by a killer husband-and-wife team, Iyarin and Tony. They lead Muaythai classes and train students for fight nights in accordance with traditional Thai organizational practices. We share our space with them and their students, attend each others’ events, and offer workshops for each other’s students in our areas of expertise!
Fred and Josh, fairly recently from other schools in NYC, have built an amazing and inclusive community of grapplers and strikers (focusing on self-defense). Several of our members also take their classes, cross-training for the sports they’re training for on our side of the gym. Josh co-teaches our Youth Movement Academy, giving the kids some solid defensive skills and increasing confidence.
Oh Baby! founder Kathleen found our space after the gym she was using closed down – she and her clients (new moms and their babies) have said that they feel not just tolerated, but welcomed in our space! They do strength and core training with their babies wandering the martial arts mats several times a week, and some of the moms head to our side of the gym when they age out of her classes!
Whole Athlete Support
Dr. Patrick has been working with our athletes since day 1 in the gym! In addition to providing excellent sports chiropractic services, he’s also led workshops on K-Taping, mobility, and other subjects our members request. Right now he’s working with Coach Kira on a new mobility system that will eventually be available through our online portal!
Once your PT runs out, where do you go to gain the strength and confidence necessary to return to an active lifestyle or sport performance? When you get injured and can’t train hard, where do you go to get back in fighting shape? Real Rehab (womxn-owned) and Strive & Uplift share many clients and have a huge amount of respect for each others’ expertise and movement philosophy. Two of their top physical therapists, Deb Scheibe and Catherine Nutting, collaborated with Coach Ren on a virtual Return to Performance program for moms!
Jesse Hunter Massage
Jesse “Danger” Hunter is a longtime member of our fitness and friend community who put in the work to become a licensed massage therapist! They provide deep tissue and sports massage out of the Strive & Uplift space, with special times set aside for our Squad!
Aimee Gallo is a longtime nutritionist with a passion for organic greens and new research about hormonal differences in performance nutrition! She’s led multiple workshops at Strive & Uplift and is available for coaching both online and in-person in Seattle. Her newest venture is an app that helps you track how many veggies you eat!
The ultimate community in the Pacific NW is stronger and deeper than any in the world because of Disc NW. They run all the programs that many of our athletes participate in, from youth and adult leagues to tournaments to education events. Strive & Uplift works with Disc NW to provide coach education, lead warmups for new players, and participate in summer camp coaching.
Providing great gear for ultimate players is only a small part of VC’s mission – led by Adriana Withers for the past 20 years, VC is a voice for equity and diversity in multiple ways across all of their platforms! VC makes Strive & Uplift gear (like our awesome rainbow shirts) but also collaborates in our educational ventures and gives us the ability to reach their customers with our educational resources!
The Premier Ultimate League is a fast-growing womxn’s professional league that’s inspiring the ultimate community in a big way! Strive & Uplift was thrilled to create custom programming to help the players stay healthy and strong all season long – looking forward to a great relationship this year as well!
Mary’s Place provides shelter and resources to homeless womxn and their families in Seattle. Strive & Uplift collects donations from members to meet various needs, and plans are in the works to create regular onsite education and movement coaching opportunities for staff and the community at large!
This rescue has a special place in Coach Kira’s heart. Kira’s friends, after working for various other rescues, founded their own! Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary is a Seattle-based nonprofit. Their mission is to rescue and rehabilitate animals from high-risk areas, and uniting them with their forever families. We support them by helping raise money to save puppies through opportunities for our community to interact with and snuggle the puppies. Coach Kira brings puppies she fosters to the gym and we run Puppy Yoga and Puppy Pilates classes whenever puppies are in town!
We have an open and inviting floorplan with a wide variety of functional training equipment (and a rotating jigsaw puzzle in the community area)! The gym is ADA accessible, down to the entrance ramp, two gender-neutral bathrooms, and the shower room.
